Palungtar Municipality is one of the 11 municipalities in Gorkha District of Gandaki Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 37,409, comprising 17,262 males (46.1%) and 20,147 females (53.9%), with a literacy rate of 75.41%. Spanning 158.62 square kilometers, Palungtar Municipality exhibits the population density of 236 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 10 wards.
