Mahabu

Mahabu Rural Municipality is one of the 11 municipalities in Dailekh District of Karnali Province. As per the 2021 census, the rural municipality has a total population of 18,059, comprising 8,262 males (45.8%) and 9,797 females (54.2%), with a literacy rate of 76.43%. Spanning 110.8 square kilometers, Mahabu Rural Municipality exhibits the population density of 163 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 6 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Mahabu has 38 schools. Of these, 2 are private and 36 are public. The breakdown includes 23 pre-schools, 38 basic schools, and 8 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 5 offer +2 programs.
