As per the 2021 census, the metropolitan city has a total population of 862,400, comprising 438,256 males (50.8%) and 424,144 females (49.2%), with a literacy rate of 90.47%. Spanning 49.45 square kilometers, Kathmandu Metropolitan City exhibits the population density of 17,440 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 32 wards.
