Katari Municipality is one of the 8 municipalities in Udayapur District of Koshi Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 59,507, comprising 28,868 males (48.5%) and 30,639 females (51.5%), with a literacy rate of 74.56%. Spanning 424.89 square kilometers, Katari Municipality exhibits the population density of 140 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 14 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Katari has 96 schools. Of these, 19 are private and 76 are public.
