As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 88,874, comprising 43,998 males (49.5%) and 44,876 females (50.5%), with a literacy rate of 73.07%. Spanning 136.91 square kilometers, Kapilvastu Municipality exhibits the population density of 649 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 12 wards.
