Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City is one of the 18 municipalities in Dhanusha District of Madhesh Province. As per the 2021 census, the sub-metropolitan city has a total population of 194,556, comprising 99,764 males (51.3%) and 94,792 females (48.7%), with a literacy rate of 76.65%. Spanning 91.97 square kilometers, Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City exhibits the population density of 2,115 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 25 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Janakpurdham has 175 schools. Of these, 93 are private and 56 are public. The breakdown includes 109 pre-schools, 163 basic schools, and 83 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 18 offer +2 programs.
