Janaki Rural Municipality is one of the 13 municipalities in Kailali District of Sudurpashchim Province. As per the 2021 census, the rural municipality has a total population of 49,860, comprising 23,198 males (46.5%) and 26,662 females (53.5%), with a literacy rate of 67.12%. Spanning 107.27 square kilometers, Janaki Rural Municipality exhibits the population density of 465 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 9 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Janaki has 45 schools. Of these, 15 are private and 30 are public. The breakdown includes 41 pre-schools, 44 basic schools, and 13 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 4 offer +2 programs.
