As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 177,557, comprising 87,337 males (49.2%) and 90,220 females (50.8%), with a literacy rate of 89.72%. Spanning 34.8 square kilometers, Budhanilakantha Municipality exhibits the population density of 5,102 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 13 wards.
