Birendranagar

Birendranagar Municipality is one of the 9 municipalities in Surkhet District of Karnali Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 153,863, comprising 75,129 males (48.8%) and 78,734 females (51.2%), with a literacy rate of 87.16%. Spanning 245.06 square kilometers, Birendranagar Municipality exhibits the population density of 628 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 16 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Birendranagar has 156 schools. Of these, 89 are private and 63 are public. The breakdown includes 125 pre-schools, 150 basic schools, and 79 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 27 offer +2 programs.
