As per the 2021 census, the metropolitan city has a total population of 243,927, comprising 121,954 males (50.0%) and 121,973 females (50.0%), with a literacy rate of 83.61%. Spanning 77.0 square kilometers, Biratnagar Metropolitan City exhibits the population density of 3,168 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 19 wards.
