NBL-Assistant (Level 4) Exam

Nepal Bank Limited, one of the leading financial institutions in Nepal, conducts an open competitive examination to recruit candidates for the Assistant (Level 4) position.

The position offered by Nepal Bank Limited is for permanent employment. Selected and appointed employees must work at any office or branch designated by the bank. The salary and other benefits are provided in accordance with the bank's prevailing rules and regulations. The probation period for new employees is set at one year, although it is reduced to six months for women employees.

This examination is designed to identify and select the most qualified individuals to join the bank's workforce. The selection process is rigorous and comprises two main phases:

Written Examination

This is the first phase of the selection process, with 200 marks. The medium of language for the written exam will be Nepali or English, or both Nepali and English. Candidates have to give two papers. The written examination for the first and second papers will be conducted separately.

The first paper is about Economy, Banking, and Accounting, and the second paper is about Management. Each of these papers carries full marks of 100 and pass marks of 40. Subjective questions will be asked in the examination, and the exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes each.

The written exam of Assistant 4th level of Nepal Bank Limited is conducted by the Public Service Commission.

Interview

Candidates who pass the written examination will proceed to the second phase, which is the interview. This phase carries 30 marks and evaluates the candidate's interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and suitability for the role of an assistant in the bank.

Branch Selection for Assistant Position

Candidates who succeed in the written exam for the Assistant position (Level 4) will be provided with a branch selection list for the respective province during the interview. Candidates will be appointed to their preferred branches/offices based on their final merit ranking.

As per Regulation 7, Clause 4 of the Nepal Bank Limited Employee Service Regulations 2079, employees initially appointed to a branch/office must serve there for at least three years or until promotion, whichever is shorter.

Eligibility

Academic Qualification 

Minimum Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.

Age

As of the online application deadline, candidates for the Assistant position must be between 18 and 35 years old. The upper age limit is 40 years for women and disabled candidates. This age limit does not apply to bank employees who are already permanent.

Syllabus

The written exam will cover questions from all syllabus sections as much as possible.

Notwithstanding anything written in the subject matter of the papers/subjects under this curriculum scheme, the laws, acts, rules, and policies included in the curriculum shall be considered as those existing (including amendments, deletions, or additions) three months before the exam date.
