NRB-Assistant Second Class-Nepal Rastra Bank

The Nepal Rastra Bank conducts an open competitive examination for the Administration Service, Assistant Second Class, Assistant Post, following a structured three-phase plan. 

The process begins with the Preliminary Examination, which serves as the first phase and is designed to screen candidates. Candidates passing the preliminary stage move on to the second phase, the Written Examination, which evaluates the candidates' knowledge and competencies in more detail. 

Finally, successful candidates from the written examination are invited to the third phase, the Interview, where their suitability for the position is assessed through direct interaction. This thorough and multi-tiered selection process ensures that only the most qualified and capable individuals are chosen for the role.

In Summary, syllabus and the examination plan are divided into three phases:

  1. First Phase: Preliminary Examination
  2. Second Phase: Written Examination
  3. Third Phase: Interview

First Phase: Preliminary Examination

The first phase of the Nepal Rastra Bank's examination for the Assistant Second Class uses an objective exam method with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Candidates have 45 minutes to complete the exam, which means they score out of 100 marks and pass with a passing mark of 40.

Negative marking: 20% of the total marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. However, there will be no deduction for unanswered questions. The marks secured in the preliminary examination will not be added to the subsequent examination. 

Second Phase: Written Examination

Only the candidates who pass the first phase (preliminary examination) will be eligible for the second phase (written examination). 

The second phase of the Nepal Rastra Bank's examination for the Assistant Second Class is the Written Examination. This phase adopts a subjective examination system, requiring candidates to provide short and long answers. 

This written examination scheme is applicable for the open and inclusive competitive examination for the post of Assistant Second Class in the Administration Service. 

All the questions are mandatory. The written examination can be taken in either Nepali or English or in both languages. Candidates can answer in either Nepali or English or both languages in different sections. 

Candidates must answer all questions in each paper/subject within the given time. Answers to questions in the examination should be written in the answer book provided.

The exam is designed to evaluate candidates' in-depth knowledge and analytical abilities. Each paper in this phase is scored out of 100 marks, with a minimum passing score of 40. Candidates are allotted 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete each paper. 

Second Paper

The second paper of the Nepal Rastra Bank's Assistant Second Class, Written Examination, features a subjective examination system focusing on Economics, Management, and Banking Laws and Policies.

Candidates must answer 14 questions: 8 short answer questions worth five marks each and six long answer questions worth ten marks each. The exam is scored out of 100, with a passing mark of 40. The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes. 

Third Phase: Interview 

Only the candidates who pass the written examination will be eligible for the interview.  A 30-minutes oral interview will be conducted with the successful applicants.

Eligibility

Academic Qualification

Passed Proficiency Certificate Level or 10+2 examination from the recognized academic institution.

Age Limit

  • Candidates must be at least 18 and not over 35 years old. The age limit for female is extended to not exceed 40.
  • There is no age limit for permanent staffs of Nepal Rastra Bank who are currently in service.

Despite any provisions mentioned in this syllabus, the laws, regulations, and policies included in the syllabus that are in force three months before the examination date (whether amended, repealed, or newly added) will be considered part of this syllabus.
