The examination consists of a 200-mark written examination followed by a 30-mark interview. This comprehensive evaluation aims to assess the candidates' proficiency and suitability for the role of Business Officer within the bank's administrative framework.
The written examination questions will be set either in English or Nepali. All questions are compulsory. Candidates can answer the written examination in Nepali, English, or both languages.
Questions will cover as many units in the syllabus as possible. The minimum passing mark for each paper in the written examination is 40%. Only candidates who pass the written examination and are selected based on merit will be eligible for the interview. Subject-related questions can include a long question, two or more parts of a single question, or two or more short notes under a single question.
The first paper, covering Law, Banking, Management and Economics, includes two sections (A & B) each with 4 short answer questions (20 marks) and 3 long answer questions (30 marks), with a total of 100 marks. Candidates must secure at least 40 marks to pass this 3-hour exam.
The second paper, covering service-related topics and consists of two sections (A & B), each with 4 short answer questions worth 20 marks and 3 long questions worth 30 marks. The paper also totals 100 marks, requiring a minimum of 40 marks to pass and has the same duration of 3-hours.
Only candidates who pass the written exam and are shortlisted based on merit will be eligible to participate in the interview.
Minimum Educational Qualifications
Post-graduate degree with Economics as a primary subject from the Business, Commerce, Management, or Humanities faculty from a recognized university.
The syllabus aims to assess candidates' theoretical and practical knowledge of banking operations, loans, deposits, and accounts-related tasks for the position of Business Officer in the Administrative Service, Level 6, based on the job description and required minimum qualifications.
Notwithstanding anything written in this syllabus, any amendments made to the laws, acts, rules, regulations, and policies included in the syllabus three months before the exam date will be considered part of this syllabus.
