X-FEST 2023 by KMC

X-Fest is a one-of-a-kind event that aims to act as a stepping stone for people having vested interests in STEM topics to pursue their ambitions. Hosted by Kathmandu Model Secondary School in association with SEDS KMC, we the organizers aim to promote interest in the field of Astrophysics and Astronomy among students and the general public. The festival will feature keynote sessions from leading scientists, interactive workshops, public observing sessions, competitions and exhibits and displays showcasing the latest in astronomy and astrophysics research, technology, and equipment. The event will also include stargazing, virtual reality experiences, STEM based competitions and space-themed stall screenings making it an event that appeals to a wide range of ages and interests.

One of the key highlights of the festival will be the planetarium, which will offer visitors the chance to experience the cosmos like never before. The planetarium will feature state-of the-art technology and a knowledgeable guide, who will take visitors on a journey through the solar system and beyond. Another highlight will be the telescope observation, which will provide visitors with the opportunity to observe celestial bodies through powerful telescopes, and learn about the latest developments in the field of Astrophysics and Astronomy.

The exhibition and showcase competition, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their projects and compete in the Engineer for the Future category, is another important program of the fest. X Fest will also feature several competitions and challenges which will provide visitors with the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge in a fun and interactive way. The fest will also feature a Ask the Expert program where we aim to invite experts who will be available to answer queries related to future in science field.

In addition to providing an enjoyable and educational experience, the festival also aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers by highlighting the importance of these fields and the many exciting career opportunities available in astrophysics and astronomy.

Objectives

The objective of X Fest is to promote interest in the field of Astrophysics and Astronomy among students and the general public. The festival will provide a platform for attendees to learn about the latest developments in these fields, through a variety of lectures, workshops, and demonstrations. The festival will also provide opportunities for attendees to observe celestial bodies through telescopes and to participate in hands-on activities and competitions.
