Software Freedom Day (SFD) is rapidly approaching, and NCIT College, in partnership with the open-source club NOSK, is fully prepared to commemorate this global occasion. SFD serves as a special day devoted to advocating for free and open-source software, emphasizing the fundamental tenets of software freedom. In Nepal, only a few organizations actively engage in this global celebration, and NCIT College takes great pride in being one of them.
Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a global event held annually on the third Saturday of September. SFD serves as a prominent educational initiative with the objective of raising awareness about Free Software and its advantages while promoting its adoption. One of the fundamental principles at the heart of SFD is the idea of free distribution. This fundamental concept ensures that users possess the freedom to share copies of open-source software, fostering collaboration and innovation without encountering cumbersome licensing constraints.
The event will present a diverse range of activities, encompassing captivating tech talks, live demonstrations of "Distro," immersive AR and VR gaming encounters, a photo booth for capturing memories, a display of Noskode 4.0, a selection of games suitable for individuals of all age groups, and a heartfelt candlelight ceremony. Attendees are encouraged to join for a day filled with excitement, inspiration, and enjoyment!
