Animal Sciences

Animal Science is involved with the science and business of raising domestic livestock species such as beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, poultry, sheep, and swine, among others. An animal scientist uses biological, physical, and social science ideas to solve challenges in cattle production and management. Animal Science is also concerned with animal-derived goods such as meat, dairy products, and eggs.

Veterinary and Fishery Education has been accepted as one of the major determinants for all-around development for most of the developing parts of the world. There is increasing recognition of the immense potential of the livestock sector in enhancing the income of the poor. Livestock distribution is more equitable than land distribution. Thus, the livestock sector provides a natural entry point for poverty alleviation programs.

A major issue affecting the livestock economy, however, is the quality education and effective delivery of livestock services to the communities. The experts from Animal Science guide the farmers for increasing productivity and preventing the most common emerging infectious and Zoonotic diseases.

Aspects of companion animals, such as feeding, care, and welfare, are also addressed by animal science. For individuals interested in efficient food animal production, the processing and consumption of high-quality meats and dairy products, the use of companion animals for recreation or leisure, or animal health and well-being, a career in one of the many animal sciences fields could be the ticket to a rewarding future. Animal science education and training can prepare individuals for rewarding careers in fields like animal production, breeding, health maintenance, and disease management, marketing, processing, distribution, and a variety of linked service industries.
