Electronics Engineering is one of the prominent and popular disciplines within engineering and technology sectors. This field has been helping the world for the rapid growing electronic items production and has been providing services in large electronics and communication fields. It has been creating wage and self employment opportunities immensely both in public and private sectors.
Pre-Diploma in Electronics Engineering (Electronics Sub-overseer) program is designed to prepare basic level technical workforce equipped with knowledge and skills related to the field of Electronics Engineering so as to meet the demand of such workforce in the country to contribute in the national economic development of Nepal. The knowledge and skills incorporated in this curriculum will be helpful to deliver the individual needs as well national needs in the field of Electronics Engineering.
Aims: The aim of this curricular program is to prepare competent basic level workforce in the field of electronics engineering who can work in rapid growing electronics items manufacturing industries as well as can provide service in electronics and communication fields.
Program objectives:
After the completion of this curricular program, graduates will be able to:
- Perform basic mechanical fitting practices
- Perform basic electrical installation
- Perform basic electronics and computer works
- Assist to install telecommunication system
- Repair and maintain radio and television devices and equipment
- Repair and maintain electronic devices, solar components, and household appliances
- Install and maintain audio video and multimedia system
- Create self employment opportunity to reduce the unemployment problems this helps to alleviate the poverty in the country.
Salient Features
Duration: This course will be completed within 18 months (40 hrs./week X 39 weeks a year = 1560 hrs.) class plus 6 months (40 hrs./week X 24 weeks = 960 hrs.) on the job training (OJT).
Target group: The target group for this training will be all the interested individuals of the country with academic qualification of class 10 pass (Sent up). Preference will be given to the individuals of rural, poor, female, Dalit, Janjati, Disadvantaged Groups (DAGs), conflict affected people and the disables.
Group size: The group size will be maximum 40 (forty) in a batch.
Selection: Applicants fulfilling the entry criteria will be selected for admission on the basis of merit.
Medium of instruction: The medium of instruction will be in both Nepali and English.
Pattern of
attendance: The students should have minimum 90% attendance in theory classes and practical/performance to be eligible for internal assessments and final examinations.
Eligibility
Individuals who meet the following criteria will be allowed to enter into this program:
- SEE pass
- Students should pass entrance examination administered by CTEVT
- They should submit the following documents at the time of application
- SEE pass certificate
- Character certificate
- Citizenship certificate (for the name, parents' name, age, date of birth and address verification purpose only)
- Final selection will be made on the basis merit list.
- The quota for different category of students will be as per the enrollment policy of CTEVT
Job Prospects
The graduate will be eligible for the position equivalent to Non-gazetted 2nd class/level 4 (technical) as Junior Electronics (Sub-Overseers) or as prescribed by the Public Service Commission.
Curricular Structure
This course is based on the job required to perform by the Junior Electronics Technicians (Electronics Sub-overseer) in manufacturing and service sectors.
The manufacturing sector includes electronic items production and service sector includes electronics and communication system installation and maintenance. Therefore, this curriculum is designed to provide knowledge and skills focusing on Electronics Engineering related to the occupation.
The curricular program consists of two years in house course and five months on the Job Training. The first year courses are offered focusing on foundational and disciplinary subjects of electronics engineering; the second year courses are focused on basic disciplinary subjects of Electronics Engineering.
Similarly, the On-the-Job Training (OJT) for 5 months insists on the application of learned skills and knowledge in formal setting as well as the provision of OJT is also included to establish a linkage with employers and provides hands on work experience to students and promotes employability of graduates. Moreover, OJT takes place immediately after completing second year final examination.
