The Professional Carpenter Training is a comprehensive vocational course designed to provide a solid foundation in carpentry, wood construction materials, and furniture manufacturing business. The curriculum is carefully crafted to encompass the necessary knowledge and skills required in the field of carpentry. The primary objective of this course is to equip trainees with the expertise needed to pursue both self-employment and formal employment opportunities.

The training program offers a unique learning experience by providing trainers with the opportunity to demonstrate and teach the knowledge and skills outlined in the curriculum. Simultaneously, trainees are given ample opportunities to practice and enhance their understanding of the subject matter. Throughout the training program, participants will gain a deep understanding of the curriculum's content, master the safe and proficient use of essential tools, equipment, and machinery, and develop the ability to manufacture various high-quality products and furniture with precision.

Furthermore, the curriculum incorporates additional programs that focus on imparting the included skills to trainees. The time allocation within the curriculum ensures that 80 percent of the training is dedicated to hands-on, practical learning, while the remaining 20 percent is devoted to theoretical learning.

Trainees will also benefit from gaining knowledge and skills in areas such as occupational health and safety, practical mathematics, effective communication, life skills, environmental awareness, social integration, and entrepreneurship development. This well-rounded approach aims to prepare individuals for success in the field of carpentry, empowering them to contribute to their communities and explore various avenues for personal and professional growth.

Objective:
Upon completion of Professional Carpenter Training, the trainees will be capable of achieving the following objectives:

  1. Familiarize themselves with the profession of carpentry and woodworking techniques.
  2. Manage the workshop and store for carpentry work and handle raw materials, tools, and equipment.
  3. Develop practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills required for carpentry work.
  4. Safely use materials, tools, equipment, and machinery used in carpentry work and perform general maintenance.
  5. Create technical drawings and blueprints for various carpentry items, furniture, and fixtures.
  6. Implement occupational health and safety measures.
  7. Manufacture various wooden products and furniture.
  8. Generate employment and self-employment opportunities in the relevant industry, contributing to livelihood improvement.
  9. Improve income generation through higher employment opportunities, including foreign employment.

Salient Features

According to Professional Carpenter Training curriculum, the training period, including On-the-Job Training (OJT), will be one year, which is equivalent to 1,696 hours. Out of this, 12 weeks (576 hours) will be dedicated to practical training. A maximum of 20 individuals will be accommodated in each group.

Trainees must diligently practice and acquire proficiency in all the mentioned skills within the curriculum. Upon successful completion of this training, the institution providing the training will award the trainees with a "Professional Carpenter" certificate.

Eligibility

  1. Individuals who have reached the age of 16 and have an interest in carpentry profession.
  2. Individuals who have passed the entrance examination conducted by the institution.
  3. The entrance examination will be based on the subjects of language, mathematics, and science, and the respective institution will prepare the question paper.

  17. Making frames for various furniture.
  18. Making common tables.
  19. Making tea tables.
  20. Making cupboards.
  21. Making rails.
  22. Fitting hardware in windows, doors, partitions, and furniture.
  23. Polishing windows, doors, partitions, and furniture.
  24. Finishing windows, doors, partitions, and furniture.
  25. Maintaining and repairing tools and equipment.
