Entrance Exams
The PCL Midwifery course spanning three years is designed around a blend of theoretical and hands-on learning, adhering to internationally recognized standards within the local context. Students will be exposed to a progressive learning atmosphere, encompassing basic to advanced concepts, with practical training embedded in district/primary and community-level health facilities. This program aims to cultivate a strong foundation in midwifery, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the profession, honing essential skills, and encouraging professional conduct. The course emphasizes a paradigm shift, viewing childbirth as a natural, holistic life event, where the midwife plays a crucial role as a competent, independent practitioner, working closely with the women and families under her care. Her expertise extends to managing both uncomplicated and complicated births, including vital emergency interventions in rural settings.
The maximum number of students will be 30 in a group at a time for this course. Upon completion of the course, a self-reliant midwife will possess the capability to offer comprehensive care to expectant mothers, aid in the birthing process, and attend to the postnatal needs of both mothers and newborns, all under her own guidance. She will be equipped to operate independently within Nepal's peripheral healthcare system, serving as a proficient decision-maker in the domain of sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, and adolescent health (SRMNAH). Her role will encompass proficient management of abortion-related care as a qualified midwife, facilitating referrals as needed, and implementing critical life-saving interventions when necessary.
