Indian Gorkha Army

Indian Gorkha Army

Short-Term-Training

Following India's independence in 1947, under the terms of the Britain–India–Nepal Tripartite Agreement, six Gorkha regiments, previously part of the British Indian Army, integrated into the Indian Army and have steadfastly served since then. Comprising primarily ethnic Nepali Gurkhas from Nepal and individuals of Nepalese origin, known as Indian Gorkhas, these troops play a crucial role. Selection occurs once or twice a year, welcoming applications exclusively from Nepalese youth across all regions and castes, with the exception of the Chaudhary caste.
