Bachelor in Interior Design (BID) program provides three years of full-time study, to students wishing to pursue a professional career related to built environments. Interior design requires an understanding of building construction, lighting, color and furniture, as well as the ability to work with a range of professionals. This program focuses as much on technical and design elements as it does on developing the organizational and interpersonal skills to be work-ready after you graduate.
The Bachelor of Interior Design combines theory with specialized knowledge and the development of proficiency relative to the profession of interior design. It is intended for students who wish to pursue a professional career in this creative multi-faceted discipline. Interior designers work in all areas of the built environment including residential, office, retail, hospitality, and Institutional settings to create interior spaces that are "functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants, and are aesthetically attractive". The program provides a balanced range of theoretical, intellectual, communication, experiential, applied and other skills, needed to deal effectively with the responsibilities of interior design professional life. The interior design curriculum features lecture, studio, critique, and computer lab instruction; independent and collaborative projects; formal and informal presentations; field trips; an internship and a final major project spanning two semesters. The elective study in the Liberal Arts and Sciences provides an excellent foundation and structure for lifelong learning and ensures that students develop quantitative reasoning and critical thinking skills.
Program Objectives
Bachelor in Interior Design (BID) is a three years (six semesters) full time course designed to produce professional interior designers in Nepal. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to work in the Interior Design related sector and Interior Designers can also start their business or work as Freelance Interior Designer and be able to pursue further study in Interior Design.
The objectives of the course are:
- To make students capable to draw architectural interior drawings and to understand design related facts and to create any space planning for public and private facilities.
- To serve the needs, function, requirements and attractive comfortable area that satisfies of its users.
- To provide a sense of place within both public and private spaces for group and individual activity
- To train students to analyze, design and implement interior design based systems.
- To develop the abilities and interpersonal skills important for effective participation and leadership in this field.
Eligibility
Candidate should have completed schooling (10+2)/ intermediate or equivalent in any stream from recognized board or university with proficiency in English can apply for Bachelor in Interior Design program.
Job Prospects
A professional course on interior design provides you with a combination of technical, practical and theoretical factors of interior design for a better build of basics in the field.
