Kantipur Engineering College (KEC), which is run effectively by qualified faculty and administration, is situated in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur. Kantipur Engineering College (KEC), founded in 1998 with the primary goal of developing an ideal platform for engineering education in Nepal, stands out with well-equipped and cutting-edge facilities within its own lush green expansive complex. KEC is affiliated with Tribhuvan University. In the fields of civil, computer, and electronics & communication engineering, KEC has so far graduated 36 batches of engineers. The majority of KEC alumni are doing well both domestically and abroad.

Admission Guidelines

Eligibility

Students who want to attend KEC must

  • succeed in the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Engineering (IOE).
  • have a minimum grade of "C" in all of their Class 11 and 12 courses or a score of 45 % on the Diploma or an equivalent. 

IOE administers entrance exams that are computer-based in the subjects of Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Engineering aptitude. The entire test consists of objective type question, and it lasts for two hours in a single sitting.

Students are accepted by KEC in accordance with the merit list IOE publishes based on the outcomes of the entrance test.

 

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

For bright and deserving students, Kantipur Engineering College (KEC) has the following scholarship packages.

Regular Scholarships: 10%of the admitted full paid quotas get scholarships.

Kantipur Talent Student Scholarships

Several alluring scholarships will be awarded to students who earned high grades in the KEC Model Entrance. The college policy shall be followed in awarding these scholarships.

ABOUT US

Kantipur Engineering College (KEC) is committed to meet every challenge for providing exemplary education in several disciplines of engineering. Presently, KEC is conducting BE programs in Civil Engineering (96 Seats), Computer Engineering (96 Seats) and Electronics, Communication & Information Engineering (96 Seats) under the guidelines of the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University. The college is fully aware and committed to the development of further engineering programs in future. Programs for running B.E. in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor in Architecture are in pipeline.

Vision

The goal of Kantipur Engineering College (KEC) is to establish the institution as an engineering education hub for South-East Asia and Nepal.

Mission

By providing high-quality engineering education, conducting applied research, and generating qualified engineering talent, Kantipur Engineering College aims to assist the people of Nepal in improving the infrastructural development of their nation.

Objectives

KEC has been established with the primary objectives to:

  • Produce proficient, qualified, and socially responsible engineering manpower required to face the challenges of the country in the new millennium.
  • Develop the college as a research and resource center so as to initiate research activities to strengthen engineering potentialities and to solve problems related to the areas of engineering in the country.
  • Provide opportunities to the citizens of Nepal willing to get engineering education in different fields at affordable cost.
  • Launch different programs to integrate educational and developmental activities.
  • Serve as a sustained center for imparting engineering education so as to update and upgrade the existing engineering manpower.

Collaborations

KEC has a strong international linkage dating back to the establishment of the college. It started with the introduction of the Civil and Industrial Engineering program under the Polotsk State University, Belarus. Since then, KEC has collaborations with more than 50 European/Asian Universities and Industries as an outcome of several international projects including East-West, eLINK, CLINK, FUSION, SmartLink, SUNSpACE, eACCESS, and YETIS. Through these international projects, the college has been successful in providing hundreds of paid scholarships to their students, faculty, and staff to pursue training and higher studies in several European Universities. With such international linkage, KEC has been focusing on different areas of collaboration, including the exchange of Faculty, Students, and Research Fellows, Joint Research Projects, Joint Conferences and Seminars, Sharing/Exchange of Information & Resources, and Staff Development. Recently, under the Erasmus+ SUNSpACe Project, KEC was successful in training more than 100 Nepalese farmers to implement smart farming practices in Nepal. Similarly, under the Erasmus+ eACCESS Project, KEC has installed a one-of-a-kind Power Electronics and Automation Laboratory in the college.

KEC is also a partner of SKIMA (Software, Knowledge, Information Management and Applications) network, which organizes SKIMA Conferences annually. KEC had the opportunity to organize SKIMA 2008 and 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The 16th SKIMA Conference 2024 will be organized in Indonesia.

With great respect and honour, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the parents, faculty, staff, students and well-wishers of the college. Your constant support, love and commitment towards the college throughout the years have enabled us to thrive to build KEC’s reputation as one of the best engineering colleges in Nepal.

I am honored to work with the College Management, Faculty, Staff and the students of the college to secure bright future of our students and the college as a whole. KEC has a lot of things to be proud of which includes quality education, well equipped laboratories, modern physical infrastructure, exposure of students in different intra/inter college competitions, healthy studying environment, international linkages with scholarships to European Universities, helpful residential community for students outside of the valley. Most of our senior faculty members have utilized our international linkage programs and trained themselves to guide and motivate students to become qualified and competent engineers capable of decision-making and complex problem solving. I am committed to continue this positive momentum in the days to come.
