Kathmandu University has released a notice calling for applicants to take part in a student exchange program with Aalto University, Finland and Tallin University of Technology, Estonia.

The Capacity Enhancement in Electrical Equipment Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnostics (CEEECOM) project, supported by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, aims to tackle the issues surrounding the skilled workforce in the diagnosis, monitoring, and maintenance of power systems and associated components in Nepal and Bhutan. This is achieved by introducing innovative teaching and learning methods in higher education. As part of the project's agenda for 2023, they are providing three Master's level students with the chance to participate in student exchange programs at either Aalto University in Finland or Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia.

Throughout the visit, students will engage in research focused on Condition Monitoring of electrical equipment utilized in power systems, power grids, and manufacturing industries. This research will be conducted under the shared guidance of professors from Kathmandu University (KU) and either Aalto University or TalTech (depending on the chosen exchange destination). The duration of the exchange program spans three months, commencing in either August or October.

Requirements

  • You must be a registered student at Kathmandu University, enrolled in a graduate level prograin at DoEEE
  • Good academic background an excellent command of English language and scientific skills
  • Background in condition monitoring, FEM simulations matlab skills, programming skills, signal conditioning are a big plus.

Application Procedure

Application shall be submitted via email, as a single pdf file containing (i) a cover letter including your motivation to take part in this exchange program (ii) a research propisal (iii) a recent CV, and (iv) copy of Bachelor certificates and GPA-sheets of the previous semesters of the ongoing Master studies, to bishal.silwal@ku.edu.np, within May 30, 2023.

Evaluation Critera

The candidates will be evaluated based on the academic background and competitiveness, quality of the research proposal, relevance of the research proposal with the theme of the CEEECOM project and the relevance of the research proposal with the ongoing research of the host institutions.
