Admissions open for Bachelor in Buddhist Studies with Himalayan Language

The Center for Buddhist Studies (CBS) offers academic credit and internationally recognized degrees at the Boudhanath Campus. The program offers classes taught by highly qualified international academic faculty as well as monastic scholars of the tradition.

Duration: Four years

Eligibility: Candidates who have completed Higher Secondary School (10+2; Grade 11 and 12) and who fulfill the English language requirement are eligible to apply.

Required English language proficiency for entry into the BA (one of the below):

  • IELTS, overall score at least 6.5, with no score lower than 5.5
  • TOEFL, minimum score 550
  • IBT, minimum score 80
  • A score of at least 70% in the CBS English Language Placement Exam (ELPE).

Applicants should apply to the BA first, in order to be eligible to take the CBS English Language Placement Exam. Candidates with a score of 50-70% on the ELPE must take and pass the summer program. Academic English and Advanced Study Methods (from June 8 to August 5, 2016) in order to be admitted to the BA.

English Language Placement Exam: Selected candidates will be invited for the exam on April 22, or May 13, 2016 (free of charge).

Last day of application: May 1 for candidates who must take the CBS English Language Placement Exam. Applications for candidates with sufficient IELTS, TOEFL, or iBT scores are accepted until July 1.
