Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology, School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS), invites applications for admission to the four-year (eight-semester) Bachelor in Data Science (BDS) program under the semester system for the academic year 2083/84 BS.

  • Application Start Date: Ashad 10, 2083 BS (June 24, 2026 AD)
  • Application Deadline: Shrawan 7, 2083 BS, until 5:00 PM (July 23, 2026 AD)
  • Application Fee: NPR 2,000
  • Entrance Examination Date and Time: Shrawan 9, 2083 BS at 8:00 AM (July 25, 2026 AD)

Eligibility

Candidates must fulfill any one of the following requirements:

  • Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from any stream with a minimum final CGPA of 1.8.
  • Must have passed the Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) or equivalent from Tribhuvan University or a recognized institution with at least a Second Division.
  • Applicants with A-Level qualifications must have secured at least Grade D.
  • Must have passed a three-year diploma from CTEVT in any subject with at least a Second Division.

Note: Applicants who have completed their studies from foreign institutions must submit an equivalency certificate issued by the Curriculum Development Center, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

Entrance Examination Details

Admission will be based on a total of 100 marks, distributed as follows:

  • Written Examination: 80 Marks
  • Interview: 10 Marks
  • Academic Qualifications: 10 Marks

Written Examination Pattern

  • Mathematics: 30 Marks
  • English: 30 Marks
  • General Knowledge (GK) and IQ: 20 Marks
  • Duration: 1 Hour 45 Minutes
  • Passing Score: Minimum 35% in the written examination

Reservation and Scholarship Provisions

Out of the total 40 seats, 32 seats (80%) are allocated under the open category and 8 seats (20%) are reserved under the inclusive quota system as per Tribhuvan University regulations.

The program also offers the following scholarship opportunities:

  • One male and one female student will receive a Merit Scholarship in every semester.
  • 10% of the total enrolled students will be provided with free scholarships.
