Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as 'Prachanda,' affirmed that the appointment of the university vice-chancellor was based on merit.

On Baisakh 20, 2081 (May 2, 2024), the recently appointed vice-chancellors of Purbanchal, Mid-West, and Far-Western universities convened with Prime Minister, Prachanda at Singha Durbar. During the meeting, Prime Minister, Prachanda emphasized that he had implemented a transparent and competitive process for appointing vice-chancellors.

Prof. Dr. Biju Kumar Thapalia, the recently appointed Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University; Prof. Dr. Dhruba Kumar Gautam, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University; and Prof. Dr. Hemraj Pant, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Far-Western University, had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Prachanda, who also serves as the Chancellor, after receiving their appointment letters.

Prime Minister Prachanda instructed the universities to operate in a competitive and transparent manner. "The appointment of the university vice-chancellor has commenced on the basis of competition, marking the end of partisan divisions," he stated.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Prachanda directed the vice-chancellors to prioritize producing globally competitive professionals by delivering quality education.
