Kathmandu Metropolitan City's education department has unveiled an opportunity for 140 city volunteers as part of its Book Free Friday Program. This program seeks to blend practical learning with enjoyable concepts every Friday. Selected volunteers will work alongside eco-club students (30-50 members of the BABA "Baalbalika Tathaa Batawarran" sub-group) in assigned schools. Their primary goal will be to enrich students' environmental stewardship experiences through active participation.

Key Details

  • Deadline for Application Submission: March 03, 2024
  • Date of Training Inception: March 07, 2024

  • Duration of Weeks: 24 Weeks from Inception Date (Thursday and Friday), 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (4 hours/day)
  • Weekly Stipend: Rs. 500 (Snacks will be provided as per School)
  • Duration of Contract: Minimum 6 Months
  • Selection Mode: Interview

Eligibility

  • Pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in fields such as environmental studies, public health, sociology, psychology, social work, development studies, culture and history, tourism and hotel management, or related disciplines.
  • Preference will be given to residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and individuals with prior volunteering experience.
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older and under 35 years of age by the final submission date.

Accepted volunteers are required to attend training sessions provided by KMC without exception.

Responsibilities of City Volunteers

The appointed city volunteers will be allocated to specific schools within Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Following training provided by experts, volunteers will visit their designated school every Friday to actively participate in the eco club. Their involvement will encompass various modules, training sessions, and programs. Additionally, volunteers will serve as a primary contact for the school and will be tasked with documenting the activities conducted under their guidance.
