Pokhara University completed 20 years of Successful Operation

Pokhara University has successfully completed its 20 years of operation. To celebrate this milestone, the university has organized a special program inside the premises of the university. Various university officials and guests shared their opinion regarding the progress, programs, opportunities and challenges faced by the university in the past two decades. Along with this, NIC Asia Bank planted some 600 different kinds of plants in the premises of the university.

The Chief guest and Registrar of Pokhara University stated that University is no different when the nation is running on consensus and collaborative work. He presented his opinion that if the nuances of thinking and selfish attitude could be abandoned, Pokhara University could prosper in the field of education, health, tourism and industry to the development of this region. In response to a query, he also expressed that the University could not confine itself as well since it runs the programs nationwide. He called for the collaboration of all for the University's overall development and extension, and expected the role of local government to obtain the land for upgrading the program and establishment of medical college.

In the program, Dean of the Humanities and Sociology studies, Prof. Dr. Indraprasad Tiwari, in his inaugral speech, urged that Pokhara University should be established in the form of national University. He emphasized on the necessity and challenge of the university, to enrich the quality of education and add as well as conduct novel market-oriented programs.

Chairman of Lekhnath Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FNCCI) and member of the parliament of Pokhara University, Lakshmi Tripathi drew the attention towards the encroachment that's going on in the University's land in the name of "squatter". He also stressed onto the deployment of qualified and eligible candidates into the University on the basis of healthy and fair competition. He also stated that the primary objective of the University should be to produce genuine and qualified citizens and to make the University peaceful and revered.

Giving his speech, chairperson of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, ward no. 30. SriRam Pokhrel appealed to the University for its attention towards the local development and that the ward was always ready to collaborate for the environmental conservation programs. He also told that University should always remember contemporary people representatives, land donors, political representatives, social workers and so on who played vital role for the establishment and guardianship of the University.

Chairman of the Lecturers’ association of Pokhara University, Assoc. Prof. Nirajan Bam expressed that the University should not harbor the political share-divisions and eligibility criteria should be defined for each and every post. He also argued that the University should not be frugal when it comes to the betterment of teacher officials.

Regional Manager of NIC Asia Bank Gandaki Dhaulagiri stated that being an ex-student of the University, he wishes for the success of it to produce skilled manpower by providing quality education. According to him, the plantation was conducted to strengthen the relation with the University and to reduce the global warming. He also announced to offer jobs in the bank for three of the students with the highest academic records and to provide loan without mortgage to the teachers.

Chairman of University union Shiva Raj Pandit expressed his opinion on the arrangement of training programs for encouragement, rewards as well as punishment for the on-going teacher officials. The program was conducted by Head of Planning and Program directorate Assistant Professor Gyaneswar Sharma.
