Pokhara University, Faculty of Management announces admission open in MPhil Management and PhD in management for the year 2080.

Applications from eligible applicants are being accepted for the MPhil and PhD programs in 2080. The "Pokhara University Regulation for Doctoral Program" and other pertinent rules and orders of the University serve as a reference for applicants to the programs. Candidates with strong academic backgrounds are sought after by the programs because they are driven, curious, and have the ambition for intellectual superiority needed to thrive in research professions.

About the MPhil/PhD Program

The programme comprises 24 credits of extensive course-work structured in two semesters. After successfully completing the course work, the scholars can opt to either pursue MPhil degree or directly register for PhD programme. The areas of specialization offered in the PhD programme are General Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, Accountancy, and Economics and Development.

Eligibility for MPhil/PhD

A master’s degree in management or economics from a recognized university along with the following specific qualifications.

  • The applicant must have experience of research, teaching in higher education or worked at least as a professional in related job.
  1. Two years working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.00/4.00 CGPA or high Second Division (55%)
  2. One year working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.30/4.00 CGPA or First Division
  3. There will be no requirement of working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.75/4.00 CGPA or Distinction Division.
  • A student must secure a minimum CGPA of 3.3 in the course-work and must have successfully defended PhD proposal for registration to PhD.

Admission Process for MPhil/PhD

Admission to the MPhil/PhD program will be on a merit basis based on the total score (200) obtained from: 

  1. Entrance test (100): Entrance test will be based on MCQ comprising of modules - Quantitative ability (20), Logical reasoning (20), English Proficiency (20), Conceptual knowledge of Management and Economics (20), and Research aptitude (20)
  2. Interview (30)
  3. Statement of purpose (5) and Research synopsis (10)
  4. Academic achievement (40)
  5. Research publication (10) and work experience (5)

Successful candidates will get provisional admission to the PhD program initially and shall be registered as Doctoral candidates only after successful completion of course work and PhD proposal requirements.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV), Letters of recommendation from two referees, No objection letter from the current employer in case of employed candidates.

Intake Size: The intake size for the Mphil/PhD program is 10 seats. Reservation and scholarship will be availed to selected candidates as per the provisions stated in “Operating Procedures of PhD in Management”
