Nepal Open University, Faculty of Social Sciences and Education, Dean's Office, Manbhawan, Lalitpur invites applications from eligible female candidates for PhD study in various fields and sub-fields of education.

Selected three female candidates will be provided with full scholarships and will be required to work as teaching/research assistants at the NOU for the designated number of hours.

Application submission deadline: Shrawan 07, 2080 (July 23, 2023)

Application fee: Rs.5000 (five thousand only)

Nepal Open University, Faculty of Social Sciences and Education, Dean's Office, Manbhawan, Lalitpur invites applications from eligible candidates to pursue a PhD in various fields and sub-fields of education. Interested candidates are advised to click here for PhD guidelines.

Selected 3 (three) candidates will be provided with full scholarships by Norwegian Program for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) in the project “Establish research-based basic teacher education programmes in Nepal” (For more information, Click the link: HERE). The PhD students will be actively involved in project activities, such as seminars and conferences and be connected to cross-institutional research teams. The PhD students will be expected to perform as teaching/research assistants at NOU for designated number of hours. The selected candidate will be contracted for a bonding period of 2 years after completing the PhD degree.

Eligibility for PhD Candidacy

MPhil degree with at least 3.3 CGPA in the related fields of education (viz. language and literacy, teachers’ educational practices and leadership, e-based learning, ICT in education, STEM, pedagogy and culture) from recognised universities along with three years of teaching or other relevant professional experience. For enrolment to the PhD programme, the applicant should have a paper published as the principal author in journals of at least the national level on Nepjol, or those recognised by the UGC Nepal.

    • Area of the proposed research/topic

Selection Process

  • Performance achievement in MPhil levels
  • Performance in the entrance test (Verbal Ability, General Awareness and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative/Qualitative Research Ability, and Research Methodology)
  • Proposed Research Intention/Purpose
  • Interview/Defense of Proposed Research Intention/Purpose

Note

  • Selected PhD candidates will work under the supervision/guidance of designated supervisor(s) through the face-to-face (in-person) and/or other supplementary modes.
  • Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Additional scholarships: Female candidates responsible for a household can apply for financial support to pay for housemaid some hours a week.
