International Volunteer Day Story Competition: The V awards 2017

2017-10-25 - 2017-11-05

Application for Award

International Volunteer Day (IVD), on December 5th, is an annual celebration of the power and potential of volunteerism, designated in 1985 by the United Nations. The day is an opportunity to raise awareness of volunteer contributions to economic and social development at local, national and international levels, and to encourage others to join in.

This year’s IVD celebrations in Nepal are jointly organized by UNV, VSO, Peace Corps, JICA, KOICA, CECI and RUNVAN. The theme chosen for local programming in Nepal is volunteering in times of crisis: resilience and solidarity.

The V-Awards 2017

The International Volunteer Day V-Awards 2017 recognize Nepal’s most inspiring and committed volunteers. Volunteers are invited to submit up to two photographs, accompanied by a story related to this year’s theme, that illustrate your or your organization’s contribution as a volunteer. The 20 best submissions will be displayed at a public exhibition in Kathmandu on December 2 and on social media. The top three winners will be awarded cash prizes and certificates.
