The National Planning Commission vice-chairman Deependra Bahadur Kshetry Friday stated that vocational training can play vital role to produce skilled manpower in the nation.

Speaking at a launching programme of a Profile of National Vocational Training Providers 2011, he said that the persons receiving vocational training could gain skill even if they fail to complete their graduation.

The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training Center (CTEVT) is accused that it only encourages persons to go abroad for the employment, but if the CTEVT can coordinate with the government’s self employment programme, it will be beneficial, Kshetry added.

Gopal Khanal, Vice-Chairman of the CTEVT said after receiving the training from the CTEVT affiliated institutions, the trainees are absolved of the danger of facing accidents at their working place.

J.B Tandan, Member Secretary of the CTEVT, informed that CTEVT has been planning to form a National Skill Development Fund with the motive to centralize the donor agencies fund.

Man Bahadur Biswokarma, Director General of the Department of Labour said that the most of the training centers are situated at Kathmandu. But the need of the hour is that they should be set up outside the Kathmandu Valley.

Rajendra Karki, Director of Research and Information Division, informed the profile book has been published to help those seeking information about the vocational training and other related information.

According to a report, 70 per cent of the unskilled manpower from the nation are going abroad now. The vocation training to such unskilled persons could reduce the flow, he said.
