Daily academic and administrative activities of Pokhara University (PU) came to a halt after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested 23 PU officials including its Vice-Chancellor.
For investigation into the alleged embezzlement, the CIAA on Monday had arrested 23 office-bearers and staff of the University. A corruption case was filed against them the following day.
The detainees included PU VC Khagendra Prasad Bhattarai, Registrar Man Bahadur KC, Deans of all faculties and Examination Controller, among others.
In absence of those officials, administration functions including budget release, and new plan endorsement were affected, said acting Deputy Administrator Roshan Pandey.
Further, the next convocation programme of the University, scheduled for February-March next year, has become uncertain.
Students, teachers and staff are worried that next semester end examinations and results are also very uncertain after the detention.
Pandey added that scholarship selection process has come to a halt as deans of all three faculties, who were coordinating the process, were arrested.
A PU student, Ramesh Subedi, said students are confused about their study and examination schedules.
