The future of Nepali medical students graduated from abroad has become uncertain with the sheer ignorance on the part of the Nepal Medical Council (NMC).
Hundreds of students, who pursued medical science abroad, are reeling under an uncertain future when the Nepal Medical Council banned them to practice as an intern in Nepal.
Though the Council imposed ban on internship issuing a notice in 2064 BS, medical students up to the batch of 2068 BS had completed their internship. The students after the 2068 batch have been deprived of doing internship in Nepal.
However, the National Guidelines for Internship Training-2007 has specified a provision that medical students graduating from abroad could practice as an intern in Nepal giving prior information to the Council under special circumstances.
Victim students said that the ban imposed by the Council is against the principle of the World Health Organization (WHO).
