Beginning Jestha 1, the entire office will be closed two days a week. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki announced the decision of the Council of Ministers, saying that the decision will be adopted on a trial basis for now. According to the decision, there will be two days off on Saturday and Sunday. On the other days, the offices will be open from 9:30 AM until 5:30 PM.
The administration has agreed to allow two days off as part of a strategy to reduce usage of both petroleum products and US dollar reserves. The administration anticipates that this will aid in the economic recovery of the country. Following the government's decision to grant two days' holiday, office hours have increased by an hour. Currently, office hours are 10 AM to 5 PM.
