The dispute of implementing semster system in Tribhuvan University is lingering as student unions who were once neutral about this system, started different protest programs against it.
As only three weeks is remaining for the TU to implement semester system for masters´ level programs at its central campuses, it is calling second round of discussion with student leaders of various student unions.
Earlier, in a meeting with the TU Vice Chancellor Hira Bahadur Maharjan, Registrar Chandra Mani Poudel and Rector Guna Nidhi Neupane, the students of TU Central Campus demanded the varsity to implement the ongoing academic calendar rather than adding economic burden on the students.
What student unions said about Semester System of Tribhuvan University:
- Postpone the decision for now and prepare required infrastructure first.
- Implement the ongoing academic calendar rather than adding economic burden on the students.
- Issuing dual degrees from the same university would undermine the TU´s reputation internationally.
