Tribhuvan University is likely to postpone the Free Student Union ( FSU ) election after the students unions remained adamant in their decision to padlock the colleges across the country. Tribhuvan University is likely to announce the new date after consulting with all the student unions.

Just eight days are left for the election scheduled on June 6 but the students unions are still divided over the status of the students who were enrolled en masse through the illegal channel and many colleges across Nation are still padlocked.

Tribhuvan University executive committee's informal meeting on Wednesday reached to the conclusion after most of colleges across the country failed to publish the voter list and distribute nomination form for the candidates as per the election schedule.

Before the meeting the university officials had made a final request to the chairpersons of all the unions to withdraw their protest and create environment for the polls.

Ganga Bahadur Thapa chief of Student Welfare Department at Tribhuvan University told that, They can't do anything unless all the unions come together  . “As most of the colleges have missed the deadline, the polls dates can be postponed.”

Sard Rasali chairman of ANNISU-R told that “There can not be election unless Tribhuvan University cancel the voting rights of fake students" , he said adding it is more likely that the poll will take place in October or November.

Tribhuvan University had fixed Monday as the deadline for voter list publication while the deadline for nomination form distribution for the candidates from both first-past-the-post and proportional category ended on Friday.
