Three students drown in Gokyo Lake



Solu, Salleri, Aug. 4 (RSS): Three students leaving for academic tour have gone missing after they drowned in a lake in Solukhumbu district on Saturday.  Ninth graders of Khumjung Secondary School have gone missing after they drowned in Gokyo Lake, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Solu Resham Bahadur Parajuli said. 

The students had left for tour on Friday and drowned in the lake on Saturday. According to the police, ninth graders Pemba Dorje Sherpa, Pemba Nuru Sherpa and Sunil Baraili of Khumbu Pasang Lhyamu Rural Municipality were confirmed drowned. 
The students had gone for academic tour along with schoolteachers Chhungjing Dorjee Sherpa and Ranjit Bal. 

DSP Parajuli said that though a helicopter of Simrik Air was sent from Khumjung for rescue operations, it could not be take place due to unfavourable weather.  Details of the incident are awaited since the area is out of telephone service, police added.
