A recommendation committee formed to suggest the name of the new Vice-Chancellor at Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), proposed three names for the post today.

The three-member committee was formed two weeks ago under the coordination of Health Minister Rajendra Mahato.

The committee was formed after the PAHS Senate fired Dr Sangita Bhandari from the post of VC on January 24, on the basis of recommendation provided by a probe committee formed under the coordination of Prof Dr Shiva Kumar Rai.

Bhandari was fired because she was incompetent and under-qualified for the post, said a decision of the Senate meeting.

A member of the recommendation committee Dr Damodar Gajurel said the committee has recommended the names of academics Dr Jaya Narayan Shah, Dr Shree Krishna Giri and Dr Shreejana Shrestha to the Prime Minister.

Shah and Shrestha are from Patan Hospital and Giri had served as rector at the National Academy of Medical Sciences. Gajurel added that the names were recommended on the basis of their vision and the concept forwarded for the development of PAHS.
