Student Unions urged Tribhuvan University to Provide Scholarships according to operational Guidelines

Three different student unions today issued a press release asking for the distribution of the scholarships according to the  MBS semester operational guidelines published by Tribhuvan University.  In the press release students unions have claimed that, scholarships notice published by Tribhuvan University Central Department of Management is against the norms and provisions mentioned in the Semester Operational Guidelines. 

During conversation with edusanjal, vice chairman of Nepal Student Union Bhim Prasad Kafley claimed that none of the students who are currently studying in third semester has got scholarships so far, though the guidelines envisi

oned distribution of the scholarships in each semester. According to the operational guideline, "Scholarship shall be distributed in the first semester based on marks scored in entrance and other three scholarships are provided on the basis of marks score in previous semesters.". 

Students have urged authorities of Central Department of Management to re-publish the scholarships notice honoring the scholarships provisions as mentioned in the MBS semester operational guidelines and also asked to decrease admissions fees. 


MBS Semester Operational Guidelines has clearly mentioned about scholarships provision: 

  1. Of the total students enrolled in departments or colleges 15% are entitled to receive free ship (only tuition fees). 
  2. Scholarship is provided only to those students who have completed their SLC from community schools and completed bachelor degree either from Tribhuvan University constituent or community colleges. Scholarship quota is divided among the students according to inclusive quota. 
  3. Scholarship shall be distributed in the first semester based on marks scored in entrance and other three scholarships are provided on the basis of marks score in previous semesters. 
  4. In a semester if there are more than 10 students in a batch an amount of Rs. 9000 stipend is awarded to male and female students each. In case the number of student is less than ten; only one student will receive such stipend in merit basis. 
  5. Free-ship (only tuition fee) is provided to one student from among the children of land donors or donors. 
  6. One student is entitled to get only one type of scholarship. 
  7. Students failing in any exam are not qualified to get any scholarship. 
  8. Student who get free-ship will get refund of tuition fee on the basis of admission receipt.
