Student organisations submitted 15-point memo to Tribhuvan University vice-chancellor

Student organisations affiliated to different political parties have submitted a 15-point memorandum to Tribhuvan University (TU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hira Bahadur Maharjan, demanding the withdrawal of the recent decision of 10 per cent increase in the tuition fee.

A team of the Nepal Students Union, ANNFSU, ANNISU-Revolutionary and others met Vice-Chancellor Maharjan and argued that the fee hike was impractical and demanded the decision be scraped immediately.

The other demands are making Tribhuvan University Calendar scientific, forwarding the process of holding free student union elections, stopping Tribhuvan University tteachers from running and involving in private colleges, said NSU Spokesperson UP Lamichhane.

He added that they also demanded that the Tribhuvan University examination system should be well managed and practical, and agreement signed between the Tribhuvan University and the students implemented.

Receiving the memo, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Maharjan said he was positive to the demands raised by the student organizations and assured talks with the student representatives for immediate implementation of the Tribhuvan University decisions and programmes.
