Edusanjal

May 29, 2020

The private schools have decided to start the process of admissions from the 3rd of June with social distancing in place after the government gave the green signal to conduct this new academic session through distance learning.

Private and Boarding Schools Organization Nepal, National Private and Boarding Schools Organization Nepal (N-PABSON), National Parents Federation, Institutional School Teachers Union (ISTU), and other organizations also issued a joint statement today.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also mentioned the opening of school by using various novel measures in this speech addressed to the nation. The Ministry of Education and Technology is yet to make the decision in this regard. The admissions in all the community schools will be opened only after the ministry's decision of the ministry.

The ministry issued a press release on May 4 appealing to stop new admissions in any classes or level until further notice. The ministry also made it clear that no fees will be charged in the name of admission or online classes.

They have requested the Government of Nepal to make arrangements for training/orientation of the teaching and non-teaching staff, uninterrupted transportation of textbooks, recognize virtual/online classrooms as formal classes, as well as to lift tariffs on the import of necessary materials and discount on electricity and the internet charges. Private schools have also requested the government to consider the fees based on the curriculum covered.
