KATHMANDU: District Education Office, Kathmandu, has directed public schools in the district to set a target for getting a certain pass pecentage in SLC examination.

Kathmandu District Education Officer Babu Kaji Karki said the move was aimed at improving the quality of education in community schools. “Though the government spends huge sums of money on community schools, they fail to translate the investment into tangible results,” he said.

The target will be reported by teachers to the school principal, who will forward it to the DEO. The office will compile the targets and compare it with actual pass percentage after publication of the SLC result next year. Of the 923 schools in the district, 203 are private schools while 720 are public.
