School Improvement Plan enhances Community School



Kathmandu: Everyone has started to appreciate Jaganath Primary School of Kalikot Tilagufa of Municipality-01 after the implementation of School Improvement Plan by Ministry of Education.

'In the collaboration of teachers, parents and students improvement plan is developed,' informed the principal, Bimala Dhungana. 'The plan that we have made succeeded in implementing and with this, improvement is possible. It is said to be a model school under the management of women.'  Majority of the students in the school are from the Dalit community.  51 students are from Dalit community of 110 students. There are 4 teachers in total. 

According to the principal, Dhungana, students got interested towards the study as there was the arrangement of food daily to the students. 'We have been providing the local food and fruits to the students.’ She added. There is numerous effort taken by both students and teachers. Different initiation has been started to take place. Under the leadership of students, different activities such as management of class, managing degradable and non-degradable wastages separately, showcasing different educational materials, child development management, supervision from the parents and specifying the 'focal person' to address the subjective problem of the students. 

With the development of School Improvement Plan and its implementation, students of Amaruwa Secondary School of Ankhibhui have a positive presence.  The presence of students and learning habits have increased. Principal Rajkumar Khanal informed that planned teaching has become more effective. Students got attracted due to the teaching through multimedia and availability of science laboratory and library, sports and educational materials.  School has 564 students and 19 teachers. 

Similarly, Chunadevi Secondary School of Bhaktapur has been successful in the implementation of the scheme, informed principal Nanumaya Giri. In the case, where government school is not getting attention, we have received the positive results after implementing the scheme, she added. Currently, there are 211 students and 11 teachers.  A community school is getting more attention as the scheme provide the bag with educational materials for the teachers, facilities of sports and computer and the provision of sanitary napkins to the girl. Additionally, there is the provision of the separate bathroom for girl and boy and arrangement of buses and food for students.
