Pokhara, Dec. 22 (RSS): Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has said that roles of culture and literatures were vital in tourism promotion.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Seventh IME Nepal Lit Festival in Pokhara on Saturday, Minister Adhikari said that such fairs and festivals have helped in tourism development.
According to Minister Adhikari, Pokhara is not only naturally and culturally rich but also an important literary destination.
On the occasion, Adhikari believed that different aspects of Nepali literature would be discussed during the four-day event and the literary figures would benefit from the literature festival. Inaugurating the literature festival, educationists Gorge John and Aliyamma John said that they were encouraged to devote their life in Pokhara’s education sector due to the warm hospitality and love of people in Pokhara.
Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sushila Karki delivered her keynote while Academician Sharubhakta, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Dipakraj Joshi and others expressed their opinions in the inaugural session.
Noted Pakistani writer Mohammad Hanif, Indian writer Prajwal Parajuly, British novelist Dr Nicola Streeten and Indian journalist Harish Nambiyer, among others are scheduled to attend and join the discussion session in the literature festival.
