Education in its broadest, general sense is the means through which the aims and habits of a group of people live on from one generation to the next. It occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts. Systems of schooling involve institutionalized teaching and learning in relation to a curriculum, which itself is established according to a predetermined purpose of the schools in the system.

Quality education is the only factor that leads to overall and quality development of the society, community and the nation. Quality education is the type of education that prepares a student mentally, psychologically and physically for his/her future and career. Students must be taught the emergence and nurturing of life skills. creative and critical thinking skills, self-directed learning skills. And also imbibing of precious values like truth, idealism, heroism, perfection, endless progress etc .There must be the learning environment which enables the students to learn according to their learning needs and levels, and at their own pace. Teachers’ education quality is also significant to improve the education quality.

Nepal has a dualistic system of schools with both public and private schools. Education in private schools is expensive and typically affordable only by the elite. Most private schools have English as the language of instruction, and many also utilize computers.

Although Nepal has made an impressive leap towards quantity, it lacks qualitative education. Education in Nepal has been more commercialized. Results are the major category seen to admit a child, but it is not the ultimate. The pass per cent of a school’s students is not the only thing which determines the quality of the school and the quality of education. First of all, each and every school must understand the concept of quality education. Students should not be prepared only for the board exams, but also for their understanding. For this, not only the schools but also the parents and the students also must be aware.

The schools must make a policy and implement them in favour of quality education. For quality education, it is absolutely necessary that somewhat radical reforms be made in the present system of teaching and learning .Learning in school should be learner-centered. The teaching and learning strategies should start from where the learner is and what s/he needs by way of learning. On the basis of that, the teacher should decide what students need to learn, accordingly design and implement the learning/teaching strategy.
