Stress was laid on the need to increase the quality of higher education to make it competitive in the international market and formulate an education policy accordingly.
Speaking at a workshop on ‘status and role of higher education in the federal structure’ organised here today, various speakers called for quality, practical, scientific, employment-oriented education that can fulfill the need of the nation.
They were also of the view that access to quality higher education should be ensured for all the citizens and the statue and role of higher education in the new federal structure should determined soon.
Expressing their views included among others vice-president of Higher Secondary Education Board, Hem Kumar Mishra, member-secretary Bhim Lal Gurung, Dr Bidyanath Koirala and Prof. Dr Shiva Dutta Gyawali.
Principals and Chairpersons of the Board of Directors of more than 80 higher secondary schools from 11 districts are taking part in the workshop.
The workshop is expected to come out with a recommendation for the future structure and status of higher secondary education in the country.
