Purbanchal University is in a mess: Education minister

Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma on Wednesday said that no improvement would be seen in the Purbanchal University, until the people with bad intentions were removed from the University.
 
Minister Sharma, who arrived in Biratnagar to acquire information about the current situation of the University, said it was sad that the University, which is in the fourth place among the universities of the country, was in a mess.

Listening to the complaints of the locals over deteriorating condition of the University, he claimed that the place, where the University is situated, would be an important property of any federal state after the promulgation of the constitution by completing peace process at the earliest.

Minister Sharma stated that entire educational sector was in the doldrums due to the entry of unhealthy politics in educational and academic institutions and stressed on the efforts of locals to free the University from this situation.

He urged all to join hands to move ahead the University swiftly as the government has invested billions of rupees on it.

On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor at the University Prof. Maheshwor Man Shrestha demanded with the minister Rs. 250 million to run the MBBS classes started by the University.

Similarly, Chairman of the University Cooperation Committee, Lok Prasad Sangroula complained that the University is in a mess due to the lack of concern by the government as well as bad intention of some officials.

Chief of the University Hospital Dr. RK Singh familiarized the minister about the activities of the University.
