Protest continued in Universities against political interference

Protest staged by lecturers and staffers of the Purbanchal University against the unnecessary political interference in the appointment of the registrar continued today as well.

They have started their protest from Sunday demanding to appoint the registrar among the lecturers in the university. The agitation started when the administration began preparing to appoint a registrar from outside the university.

Protestors warned that they would stage stern protest programmes from December 5 if their demands are not addressed soon. On Sunday, they padlocked the registrar’s office. Today, both the lecturers and staffers tied black cloth in their arms on duty.

Krishna Poudel, General Secretary of the Purbanchal University Teachers Association, said they had to continue their protest as the university has paid no heed to their demand.

Similarly, the protest program demanding the resignation of Vice Chancellor and Rector in Patan Academy of Health Science (PAHS) is continuing since one and half month. A week ago Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai has given the 3 days deadline to solve the problem, but no progress yet.

Academic program at  Patan Academy of Health Science are in halt since past 3 weeks.

After passing the deadline also prime minister has not taken any progressive steps. A protest program is also going in in Tribhuvan University, when University decided to remove part time staffs.

Similarly after the resignation of VC  Suresh Raj sharma, the VC Post of Kathmandu University is vacant and the political lobbying is going on.

Due to some recruitment issue, Pokhara University is also closed since a week, and no concrete steps has been taken yet. Recently Pokhara University cancelled its end semester examination due to ongoing protest programme.
