The Minister for Education, Girirajmani Pokharel, on Monday said the authority will reconstruct all schools damaged by the earthquake on April 25, 2015 within two years.
The minister announced this at an event hosted by Durbar High School.
“Durbar High School has a long history. It should stand out and look attractive compared to other schools. The reconstruction of this school should be prioritised,” Pokharel said.
The minister urged the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to ratify the building sketch within a week after settling the dispute between KMC and Department of Archaeology over the design.
KMC Chief Administrative Officer Yadav Prasad Koirala reaffirmed the building sketch would be passed within a week.
National Reconstruction Authority official Dilip Shresha said, “Out of the 7,500 schools damaged by the earthquake across the country, 3,600 schools have been reconstructed."
